VOLUNTEER If you would like to volunteer your time to help us at the The Gabriel Foundation facilities, please contact us: 1025 Acoma St. Denver, CO 80204 Phone: (303) 629-5900 Fax: (303) 629-5901 education@thegabrielfoundation.org We welcome the interested public, rescue, sanctuary, welfare organizations, veterinarians and members to participate in hands-on care of the aviary and the birds. The Foundation willingly provides its materials to interested volunteers to distribute appropriately in their local area. The Foundation developed a volunteer training manual for training, teaching, educational and safety purposes. The aviary hosts family fun, on-site volunteer work weekends and picnic lunches at the aviary quarterly throughout the year. MEET OUR VOLUNTEER OF THE MONTH!   Ruth Stricker began volunteering at The Gabriel Foundation in January 2009 – and what would we do without her!?!? She goes to Safeway every Friday to pick up the produce they donate to us, and then heads to the Aviary and Adoption Center to sort through the fruits and vegetables, compost the old, and organize the rest. Her help has been invaluable! Ruth has an adult daughter and is retired from Verizon. She moved to Colorado from Long Island, NY in 2005.  She is a CPDT (certified pet & dog trainer) and while she doesn’t have a bird at the moment, she is very busy with 6 dogs, 3 cats & a snake! Ruth has done volunteer work for several different dog and cat shelters. She heard about TGF while at the Denver Dumb Friends League and found us on the web. We are so grateful that she did! She hopes to learn everything she can about parrots and eventually master clicker training. Thank you, Ruth!           ^BACK TO TOP
