VOLUNTEER
If you would like to volunteer
your time, please contact our Volunteer Coordinator, Gaye Thomasson, at volunteers@thegabrielfoundation.org or (303)629-5900 ext. 235. Gaye is volunteering her time and there may be a delay in responding. If you need immediate assistance, call Patti Christie at (303)629-5900 ext. 213.
We welcome the interested public, rescue, sanctuary, welfare organizations, veterinarians and members to participate in hands-on care of the aviary and the birds. The Foundation willingly provides its materials to interested volunteers to distribute appropriately in their local area. The Foundation developed a volunteer training manual for training, teaching, educational and safety purposes. The aviary hosts family fun, on-site volunteer work weekends and picnic lunches at the aviary quarterly throughout the year.

MEET OUR VOLUNTEERS OF THE MONTH!
Volunteering is a family affair for our March Volunteers of the Month. Kevin Ray, along with his wife, Cindi, and three boys, Kameron, (10) Kody, (8) and Kaden, (5), have already made quite a difference for the staff and flock of The Gabriel Foundation.
Kevin has shown an incredible commitment to the TGF flock in the few months he has been involved with The Gabriel Foundation. He was one of the volunteers who transported the rescued Pueblo flock from the animal shelter to their safe haven in Denver. Kevin stayed for the duration, in the end helping to gingerly bring the birds to their new, humane living quarters. His family has since sponsored "Mario," one of the majestic Greenwing macaws in this flock.
Kevin works close by in Elizabeth, CO and comes to the Aviary on his lunch break to change newspapers or do whatever is needed. He has encouraged his employees to volunteer their time to worthy causes, and because of his efforts, TGF has added a number of new volunteers to the roster.
Sundays are special days at the Aviary for the Ray family. Like clockwork, you will find Kevin in the workroom, drilling and chopping wood chunks to replenish pvc toys. He doesn’t quit until the boxes are overflowing. And Cindi and the three boys are in the corridor, busy making some very creative toys. They shred phone books, stuff foraging toys, string beads, and refill the pvc toys with Dad’s wood chunks, and that’s just for starters!
Kevin and Cindi have already instilled a sense of giving back into their young family. Kameron, Kory and Kaden come every time with exuberance and boundless energy. They are learning a life lesson at a very early age, taught by two committed parents who set a wonderful example for them. As Kameron recently said, “The best part is making the toys!” No, Kameron, the best part is having you and your family care so much about all of the birds at TGF. You are all very appreciated.
