The Agriculture Department says it was responsible for the death of thousands of birds.
And the truth about the secondary poisoning of birds of prey and other prey eating mammals and reptiles from eating the poisoned prey 's impact will never be fully known:

| Your help is needed now to help save Australia's Black Cockatoos! |
PETITION TO SIGN
Three of Western Australia's spectacular Black Cockatoos - the Carnaby's, Baudin's and the Forest Red-tailed Black Cockatoos - are threatened with extinction, largely due to habitat loss and fragmentation. Further clearing of native bushland and other habitat vital to the survival of these species is unacceptable.

RESCUE IN TEXAS
On August 2, 2010 Judge Armando Rodriguez ruled that 1,077 animals taken from Juan and Berta Gracia in Highlands, Texas had been “cruelly treated and not provided adequate food, water, housing and care by their owners”. Click here to learn more.
The new Animal Welfare Act (AWA) of 2011 will now cover birds. This should have a great impact in cases like this. |

AURORA, CO RESCUE UPDATE
In September 2009, TGF was contacted by Aurora Animal Control to help in the rescue of 111 birds from a private residence. The Court sent 35 of the birds back to the home, and sadly, we lost some to chronic disease. However, the majority remain at our Aviary and Adoption Center - many making dramatic improvements and thriving!
We are beginning to determine which of the Aurora flock may be available for adoption, foster care, or in need of sanctuary care and sponsorship. Click here to learn more; read about the amazing recovery of Romeo, the male Eclectus (pictured); and find out what you can do to help this special flock! |
