DONATE TO THE ANDREW P. BOSMAN MEMORIAL FUND
This restricted fund is dedicated to Andrew’s legacy to improve the lives of captive breeder parrots. Hundreds of breeder parrots have entered The Gabriel Foundation’s care through relinquishment, animal cruelty/abuse/neglect, seizure, surrender or an owner’s catastrophic life event. Andrew’s lifetime commitment to birds had recently expanded to establish cooperative avicultural practices to improve standards of care and husbandry for all captive parrots. Too often, captive parrots are forced to live in filthy, squalid and inhumane conditions which diminish the efforts of ethical and responsible aviculturists and caregivers. Andrew’s goal was to increase public awareness about appropriate parrot care, to improve breeder accountability and to publicize standards of care so that aviculture and the public can no longer ignore the shameful conditions under which captive parrots are often forgotten and forced to live in.
More than 200 ex-breeder birds currently reside at The Gabriel Foundation. Most arrived without provisions for their long term care. Many have chronic health problems due to poor husbandry, malnutrition, lack of appropriate veterinary care, and reproductive-related disease. Your donation to this fund in Andrew’s memory will directly support the lives of these ex-breeder birds, continue to promote the need for
ethical and responsible avicultural practices and to make educational materials available to the public to expand their awareness and role in creating change.
No longer will silence be tolerated.
