We welcome the interested public, rescue, sanctuary, welfare organizations, veterinarians and members to participate in hands-on care of the aviary and the birds. The Foundation willingly provides its materials to interested volunteers to distribute appropriately in their local area. The Foundation developed a volunteer training manual for training, teaching, educational and safety purposes. The aviary hosts family fun, on-site volunteer work weekends and picnic lunches at the aviary quarterly throughout the year.

MEET OUR VOLUNTEER OF THE MONTH!
Dana Campos has been a friend of TGF for nearly 10 years. We first became acquainted with Dana through her Umbrella Cockatoo, Quinlan, who has been a part of her family for over 25 years. Dana has shared many ups and downs with Quinlan through the decades as they continue to learn from each other. Dana is dedicated to making every effort to improve her knowledge about being a caregiver to a fully spirited male cockatoo.
Along this journey, Dana has enriched the lives of many birds at TGF. She has spent hours in our main kitchen helping to prepare fresh foods and baked goodies for our flock. She has been like a fairy godmother to Junior, the young son of aviary techs Yesmin and Sergio, and his eyes light up every time he sees her car pull into the parking area. She’s been a steadfast volunteer for nearly 3 years since we relocated our Aviary and Adoption Center to Elizabeth. Dana’s ready smile, along with her quiet and generous nature, has brought much pleasure to all of TGF’s staff. Dana’s a wonderful cook, and her sweets have brightened up our days countless times. During our Valentine’s Sweetheart Bake Sale, Dana’s treats helped us to raise over $500 for the birds at TGF.
We hope you’ll have the opportunity to meet Dana when you visit Elizabeth and bask in the warmth of her smile. We also wish to thank her husband, Raul, for the time he has spent at the aviary during our volunteer work days, making flights and foraging areas better for the flock. Many, many thanks to both Raul and Dana for making life better, one bird at a time.
