We welcome the interested public, rescue, sanctuary, welfare organizations, veterinarians and members to participate in hands-on care of the aviary and the birds. TGF willingly provides its materials to interested volunteers to distribute appropriately in their local area. The Foundation developed a volunteer training manual for training, teaching, educational and safety purposes. The aviary hosts family fun, on-site volunteer work weekends and picnic lunches at the aviary quarterly throughout the year.

MEET OUR VOLUNTEER OF THE MONTH!

Congratulations to Bucy for being our July 2010 Volunteer of the Month! Bucy has been a dedicated volunteer at The Birdbrain for over three years. When she volunteers at TBB, she can frequently be found  visiting with her feathered friend,  Gauguin, a Blue and Gold macaw (pictured).

Bucy gives selflessly to TGF in a variety of ways. She is always willing to transport birds to and from GoldenView Veterinary Hospital and Homestead Animal Hospital.  When there is a call for immediate help, Bucy is there!  She assisted on January 22, 2010, when a temporary home for the 42 birds from the Pueblo Rescue needed to be set up at The Birdbrain. She calmly readied cages with papers,  perches, toys, water and food.  She also assisted with the Grand Reopening of The Birdbrain on June 19th. And, on more than one occasion, she has encouraged her friends to provide financial assistance for the birds in the care of The Gabriel Foundation.

Bucy has found a myriad of creative ways to make a difference for the TGF flock. She is always flexible and willing to help at the “drop of a feather!”

Bucy lives in Denver with her Lesser Sulphur-crested Cockatoo, Bernadette.

Thank you, Bucy, for your dedication to The Gabriel Foundation.   Everything you do is deeply appreciated by the TGF staff and flock!
